Windows Phone 7 is finally here and after 18 months in development Microsoft has actually managed to surprise many of its detractors by creating a platform which is not only easy to use but also a very different proposition from its major rivals. The Samsung Omnia 7 is one of the small group of handsets that have arrived to help launch Windows Phone 7 and since Microsoft has been fairly strict in its imposition of minimum specifications to ensure unity across all mobiles based on its platform, can Samsung`s offering do enough to stand out from the crowd?

The Samsung Omnia 7 is unique amongst the first batch of smartphones based on Microsoft`s Windows Phone 7 platform because it uses Super AMOLED display technology. Across its four inch display this is something that will make people stop and stare because no other display can match it when it comes to colour depth or contrast. While a display is not going to make or break a phone, in this case it is arguably the feature for which the Omnia 7 will become know and perhaps win fans over from the alternatives like the HTC HD7 or LG Optimus 7.
